“Turtle” by Jer!
I’ve been creating and performing musical comedy characters, and in January I got to record a music video for my favorite character Jer (short for Jerry) and his song “Turtle.” I worked with a few fake turtles, and a few real friends, including comedian and cinematographer, Forest Kinsey.
In the song, young Jer really wants a pet dog, but instead gets turtles. At present, Jer is a grown man. Jerry “Jer” Slougherman was inspired by Raffi and Joe Scruggs, two children’s folk singers I listened to growing up. He’s sweet, inspirational, and vulnerable. He says the things I wish I could say to myself, and he believes in you!
