Inspiration Grant Recipient

Along with 12 other artists I have been awarded an inspiration grant from ArtsKC, for my project, "Finding Home: Music Made in Kansas City.” This project is a recorded album project that brings together a community of musicians, artists, makers, local spaces, and music fans with the intention to support and promote local talent and develop connections for future collaborations in the Kansas City arts community.

The songs featured on the album were written in the years between leaving Fort Collins, CO, where I had lived for 18 years, and the steps I took to relocate and carve out a new home in Kansas City. During this time I lost my grandma, and my father. During this time we all lived through the strange and isolating experience of the COVID-19 pandemic, and during this time I moved to a new city, fell in love, and discovered the vibrant and engaging community of Kansas City musicians and artists.

With this project, I intend to showcase what I’ve learned, how I’ve grown, and who I’m becoming as I continue to make Kansas City my home.

These grants support ambitious projects of risk, growth, and change for the artist and positively impact the community. MORE ON ARTSKC.ORG
